From breaking records to potential romantic reunions, it has been an exciting week for the Royal Family. Get all the most important updates in one place with this week’s Royal Round Up.

Duke and Duchess Of Cambridge Break Instagram Record

Meghan and Harry set a social media record when they joined Instagram this week; their new account, set up on 2nd April, gained one million followers in just six hours – meaning it hit one million followers faster than any other account in Instagram’s history.

While the new Royal Instagram account now has well over 3 million followers, the Duke and Duchess follow just 23 other accounts – those owned by organisations of which they are patrons and other members of their family.

Meghan was active on social media before marrying Harry, but deleted her accounts in deference to the fact that Royals traditionally do not have a personal online presence. It is unclear if the Instagram account will be run by the Royals themselves or a communications agency.

Prince Charles Visits British Muslim Heritage Centre

Prince Charles paid a visit last week to the British Muslim Heritage Centre in Whalley Range, Greater Manchester. While there, he praised the important work that the team has done for their community.

Speaking at the centre, the Prince of Wales said: “I’ve been so impressed by all the different initiatives and projects you run here and the difference you are making – in terms of all the work you are doing in the community, but also in terms of linking all the other communities together.”

The Duke Of Sussex Warns Of Social Media Mental Health Risk

Prince Harry, who visited the YMCA in west London last Wednesday, warned that social media is ‘more addictive than drugs and alcohol.’

This was during a roundtable discussion about young people’s mental health with representatives from charities including Young Minds.

In a post on the Sussex Instagram account, the Prince is quoted as saying: “There continues to be huge progress in smashing the stigma that surrounds mental health, but let’s keep normalising the conversation.”

The Queen Hosts Reception For Volunteers

Queen Elizabeth II hosted a reception at Windsor Castle for the National Council for Voluntary Organisations, in an event marking the council’s 100 year anniversary.

The reception took place last Tuesday evening, with the Princess Royal and The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester also in attendance.

Supporting voluntary organisations is a big part of the Royal Family’s day to day life. The Queen is involved with over 600 patronages, covering all areas of the charity and voluntary sector.

Are the Duke and Duchess of York back together?

Prince Andrew Sarah Ferguson embarked on their first foreign Royal visit together in 25 years when they visited Bahrain last week.

The trip has sparked rumours that the Duke and Duchess – who have been amicably divorced for over 20 years – could be getting back together. The pair have always got on well despite the breakup, but now British news outlets such as The Daily Mail and ITV are suggesting that the couple may have rekindled their romance.

Buckingham Palace has refused to comment, while a spokesperson for the Duchess of York said that ‘nothing has changed in their relationship’.
